Hebrew Reading Course

  • You always wanted to learn Hebrew - now's your chance!

What: Sign up for a Hebrew reading course with visiting Israeli-French scholar Daniel Altman. The course is designed to teach those with little or no basic knowledge of the Hebrew language how to read Hebrew.

The Hebrew reading course focuses on teaching the Hebrew alphabet and reading skills. In eight, one hour sessions, participants will learn to read Hebrew and follow along in a prayer book. All students will receive course material, which will enable them to practice reading at home.

The course presenter, Daniel Altman of Coral Gables, has experience as a modern Hebrew teacher at the World Zionist Organization. He'll be using the teaching method used in Israel at the Ulpan (immigrant teaching center). After studying at Universities in Israel, Daniel studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, received his masters degree at CY Cergy Paris University and is currently a visiting scholar doing his Ph.D. at University of Miami.

Where/When: The course is offered online via Zoom, on Monday evenings, beginning January 17, 7:00-8:00 pm.

Fee: There's no charge for the course. Donations are optional.

At the conclusion of the reading course, we plan to offer a level two course in Hebrew comprehension. Stay tuned for details.
